Most of the cities away from the East Coast become more rural an hour outside of town. And even East Coast cities have lots of farms around them. The Carolinas, North NY, Connecticut, etc. Los Angeles and San Fran are a little more than “1 hour” just because of traffic, but if you have the money, there are farms within 40 or 50 miles.

A lot of midwestern cities will have farm land within 1 hr drive. I work in Dayton, OH and live in a small farming community with a 45 min commute thru cornfields and cow pastures all the way!
Outskirts of just about every city has farm land near by. Depends on the type of farming you’re looking into though: Dairy farm, corn fields, fruits veggies, cattle, pets – horses dogs pigs, chicken farm etc etc etc… Not every area has the right climate for the type of farming you may interested in.
