Click on “sulit.com” or “ayosdito.com.ph” There are many places for sale here. You might also ask around when you get there but be aware that as a “rich & having too much money” foreigner they will jack up the price. Also be absolutely sure to have a lawyer check everything out that the land belongs to the person selling & that all taxes have been paid. It is very common here for people to sell a house where they do NOT own the property! How would you like to get into that can of worms? LOL
You can contact http://www.davaoproperties.com john@davaoproperties.com telephone 63 82 305 1651 or U.S. cell number 662 796 1866 They are a member of Davao City Asso. of Real Estates Practitioners, Inc. The wife is a licensed broker. John has been living in Davao with for a number of years, but is originally from Alabama. I have found them to be honest.
Added: You have to be careful of the agent you use. In the Philippines it is not like in the States. The buyer and seller do not each have an agent. The agent in the end will represent both the seller and the buyer. If you do not find an honest agent most agents will be representing themselves and going with the party where they can make the most money. I would not use any agent unless someone I knew had recommended them.
There surely would be land for sale. I was also asking when I was there last. The owner of the van that I rented to tour the island told me that there would still be beachfront property but these would be on the other side of the island, opposite the Pearl Farm/Paradise Island/Blue Jazz area. Within the areas near the popular resorts, you may want to offer to buy, but surely the prices would be steep.
I suggest you go and ask around yourself. best to get info from locals, and then when you find a spot, then that would be the best time to engage the services of real estate agents because they could professionally check the authenticity of the ownership, they also know exactly how to proceed. They will only collect commissions from the owner, but that is after you have more or less agreed on the price. In fact, the agent can help you bring down the selling price.
Learn more about Samal island. I wrote about it the last time I visited, just months ago.
